European Parliament awards Sakharov Prize to ‘brave’ Ukrainian individuals

The European Parliament introduced on Wednesday that it has awarded the Sakharov Prize to the Ukrainian individuals, in assist of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The prize cash of fifty,000 euros might be distributed to personalities from Ukrainian civil society.

The European Parliament introduced on Wednesday October 19 that it had awarded the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to the Ukrainian individuals, as an indication of assist for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine since February 24.

“This award is devoted to the Ukrainians who’re combating on the bottom. To those that have been pressured to flee. To those that have misplaced family members and buddies. To all those that resist and combat for his or her beliefs. I do know that the brave individuals of Ukraine is not going to give in, and neither will we”, declared the President of Parliament, Roberta Metsola, within the Strasbourg hemicycle.


The prize cash of fifty,000 euros might be distributed to personalities from Ukrainian civil society.

The Sakharov Prize, named after former Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov, has been awarded yearly since 1988 to personalities or organizations that defend human rights and basic freedoms.
