Vuelta: Mads Pedersen wins stage 13

Dane Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) won the 13th stage of the Tour of Spain in Montilla in a sprint, after a flat and calm day. The Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step) remains the leader.

Pedersen won ahead of French sprinter Bryan Coquard and German Pascal Ackermann. Three times second and unfortunate on the line during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th stages, the 2019 road world champion has finally won a stage victory on this 2022 Spanish circuit. He also consolidated his green jersey in the points classification .

Three men made up the breakaway of the day: Julius van den Berg, Ander Okamika and Joan Bou came out from the start. But their enterprise was not successful, and they were caught 9.5 kilometers from the line.

Evenepoel strong leader

The general classification has not changed. Remco Evenepoel remains the leader with 2 minutes and 41 seconds ahead of his first pursuer, the three-time Slovenian title holder Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma).

‘Everything is fine. I slept very well, the injuries seem to have already healed relatively well, so everything is fine’, reassured the red jersey at the start of the 13th stage in Ronda, after falling during the stage of the standby.

On Saturday, the peloton will find some relief. You will have to cross three 3rd, 2nd then 1st category passes before arriving at the top of the Sierra de la Pandera in Andalusia, in the south of the country.
