For the first episode of the new season of Sept à Huit on TF1, one of the essential subjects was covered on Sunday August 28, 2022: the start of the school year. The magazine’s teams went to meet a mother, Erika, who set herself a budget of €200 per child to buy everything necessary. Unfortunately, she will soon realize that the expenses go very quickly. A hard blow for this mother who cannot count on the back-to-school allowance which grants 400 euros per child to households with the lowest incomes. The teams from Seven to Eight then paint a portrait of this family, made up of three children. The father runs a fast food establishment while Erika, the mother is responsible for the marketing department of an SME.

A fairly comfortable situation, since together, they earn a total of €4,200 net per month. “And yet their bank account has plunged into the red several times this year.” The mother then asks her children to make an effort and reuse their school supplies from the previous year.
