“The Crown” season 6 has found its Kate Middleton and its Prince William

SERIES – Two “Prince William” and a “Kate Middleton”. The Netflix series The crown has found its actors to play the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in its sixth season.

Why two actors for one Prince? Because William grows throughout the season, learned the American news site Deadline. Teenager Rufus Kampa will play the role of Prince William at the age of 15. While actor Ed McVey, 37, will then take over. He will play the prince in his late teens and early adulthood. For the princess, Meg Bellamy was chosen to play Kate.

The two actors will therefore share the scenes. Kampa will appear in episodes which chronicle how the British Royal Family coped with the tragic death of William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who died in August 1997. William was only 15 at the time. While McVey will court Kate when they meet at St Andrews University in 2001.

Season 5 of The crown aired in November

For the three actors, playing in a series is a first, reveals the American magazine Variety. But they have the potential required to play his roles, according to the producers. In particular Ed McVey, a graduate of the renowned British drama school, the “Drama Center London” in 2021.

The young man has undeniable qualities to embody the prince, reports the casting site Spotlight: “He knows how to take the accent of the Queen’s English; he is proficient in firearms, which is useful since William served in the army, and he can snowboard, the young kings loved snow sports. »

Filming the sixth season of The crown is slated to begin this fall, with season 5 debuting on Netflix in November. Dedicated to the royal history of the 90s, we will notably find Imelda Staunton in the role of Queen Elizabeth, Jonathan Pryce in that of Prince Philip, Dominic West in Prince Charles, or even Elizabeth Debicki in Diana.
