In his book A thousand lives of a chefpublished by editions BalzacChef Christophe Leroy looks back on his brilliant journey which led him to work for the greatest. A book in which he notably evokes a dinner organized for Johnny Hallyday and Adeline Blondieau which went very badly.
Christophe Leroy confides. On July 12, 2022, the chef released A thousand lives of a chefa book in which he looks back on his journey and the incredible encounters he has had. In 40 years of career, this son of a peasant has worked in the greatest establishments (Le Crillon in Paris, the Negresco in Nice, the Hôtel de Paris at Monaco…) and is also known for its famous white evenings in Saint-Tropez which brought together all the gratin of showbiz. “
One day, I put my suitcases in Saint-Tropez, a little by chance and by desire. There, I met Johnny Hallyday, Eddy Barclay and that was the start of a great story. I have always liked the sensitivity of these people. They have an instinct, something different and a sympathy quickly set in. There was a generosity, a simplicity, these people never talk about money, they are people of passion”he confided to France Sunday August 10th.
A catastrophic dinner organized for Johnny Hallyday and Adeline Blondieau
Christophe Leroy’s brilliant career allowed him to rub shoulders with the greatest, and thus to become friends with some of them. This is the case of Johnny Halliday with whom he has created special ties. In 1990, the rocker chose him to organize the meal for his wedding with Adeline Blondieau. “From there a friendship was created. He spent about 100 days a year in Saint-Tropez. He was extremely sensitive. He loved the good and the beautiful and we rubbed shoulders every day for 4 years of my life. Each dinner ended with music, there was a real conviviality”explains Christophe Leroy.
After this first successful experience, Johnny Halliday calls on the chef again for a meal which should mark the first month of his union with Adeline Blondieau. A meal that will quickly turn into tragedy following a violent argument between the actress and the singer. “This dinner was a fiasco even if the evening ended well since Adeline and Johnny were reconciled. The guests didn’t understand what they were doing there, they didn’t see either of them. They came out when the guests had left. I did my job, I served the meal. But the soup is less good when the atmosphere is not there”confided the chef. A meal he will never forget.
