The Márquez brothers and Alzamora confirm a breakup “by mutual agreement”

A press release from Emilio Alzamora’s management agency confirms the separation of the Spanish agent and the Marquez brothers, whom he followed throughout their professional career. Their partnership began 18 years ago, when 12-year-old Marc Márquez stood out in the Catalan championship, then it was the turn of Álex, three years younger, to entrust his career to the former pilot.

“The Márquez brothers and Emilio Alzamora announce that they have mutually decided to separate after 18 years of a fruitful relationship”, reads the press release issued by AC Management.

“After discussing it all three, we decided that the time had come to take different paths and start a new stage”, explain the Márquez brothers in a joint statement. They add that they “wish to thank Emilio for the work he has done during these years and for his involvement throughout this period, during which [ils ont] achieved great victories.”

“Thank you Emilio for all these years spent together”, adds the eldest, paying tribute to his agent on his social networks. “I still remember the first day I pushed the door of Monlau Competición, when I was only 12 years old! I wish you the best.”

For Emilio Alzamora, whose absence alongside Marc Márquez had already been noticed in recent weeks, it is “an important step” which is ending, that of a unique employment relationship that led to “great and unforgettable successes” including eight world titles for #93 and two for his brother.

“With AC Management we have worked and brought all our experience to manage their sports careers so that the Márquez brothers achieve the best possible image and are respected both professionally and personally. All these professional successes of Marc and Álex would not have not been possible without the collaboration of countless people who have bet on them from the start and who have accompanied us to the top”, he adds.

“I have no words to describe this story that we started when Marc was 12 years old and to which I humbly brought all my knowledge”, continued Emilio Alzamora. “Together we have lived unforgettable and incredible moments, but also very hard times like injuries. I have no doubt that in this new stage that Marc is starting, he will return to the top to continue writing history and, above all, because that’s the most important thing, to enjoy his passion.”

“[Álex] was an example as a sportsman. His work, his sacrifices and his professionalism led him to polish the great talent he possesses and I am very proud of all that I have been able to contribute to help him achieve his dreams, there is no doubt. I’m sure the best is yet to come for Álex.” concludes Emilio Alzamora, whose last mission will have been to allow the transfer of the youngest of the Márquez brothers from Honda to Ducati, placing him in the Gresini team for 2023.
