TF1 announces the broadcast of its new series “Les Combattantes” from Monday September 19 in prime time. It will be a “historical” and “committed” fiction, with in particular Audrey Fleurot, Julie de Bona, Camille Lou and Sofia Essaïdi who will embody the “fighters”. These four women, during eight episodes, will go through an intense and tragic moment of the History of France.

Les combatantes portrays women as strong as they are diverse in the context of the First World War.

The Fighters is a mini-series consisting of eight fifty-two minute episodes. It is written by Camille Treiner and by Cécile Lorne from whom the original idea was born. José Caltagirone, Iris Ducorps, Sophie Hiet, Hélène Le Gal, Cécile Lorne and Camille Treiner are responsible for the adaptation and the dialogues.

The story begins in September 1914. For several weeks, the fighting has been raging. In a small village in the east of France, a few kilometers from the German zone, four women find themselves thrown into the heart of the horror: Marguerite (Audrey Fleurot), a Parisian prostitute as mysterious as she is flamboyant who is suspected of to be a spy; Caroline (Sofia Essaïdi), wife of Victor Dewitt, owner of a car factory, went to the front.

She sees herself propelled to the head of the family business, a colossal and unprecedented challenge for a woman at the beginning of the century; Agnès (Julie de Bona), mother superior of a convent requisitioned and transformed into a military hospital. Overwhelmed by the influx of wounded, Agnès is more tormented and questions her life choices; as for Suzanne (Camille Lou), a young feminist nurse, she has been on the run since an abortion that went wrong… They are the fighters: four exceptional women who during eight episodes will go through an intense and tragic moment in history.

The cast of the series is composed in particular of Audrey Fleurot (Marguerite), Sofia Essaïdi (Caroline), Sandrine Bonnaire, Tcheky Karyo, Julie de Bona (Agnès), Tom Leeb and Camille Lou (Suzanne).

This new mini-series brings together part of the Bazar de la Charité team. Thus, we find the trio formed by Audrey Fleurot (heroine of the new HPI series), Camille Lou (Florence Gallo in I promise you) and Julie de Bona (mother of Lou in the Plan B series), gathered, according to Anne Viau, director of fiction at TF1, for the pleasure of seeing the trio go through the ages, although playing different roles.

The producer, Alexandre Laurent, and Hervé Gallet, the production designer, had already worked together on Le Bazar de la Charité. For the sets of the Les Combattantes series, the team studied the landscape of the Vosges, observed that of Hauts-de-France and the Paris region and solicited the help of collectors and museums in order to recover military equipment. Diligent work has been done to make the historical inking visually believable. Local soil was, for example, used to make the costumes as dirty as they could be at the time of the First World War. Thus, this mini-series pays tribute to the regions that hosted its filming!
