Lisa Marie Presley: her terrible secrets about the death of her son, Benjamin

In July 2020, Lisa Marie Presley lost her son, Benjamin, who died at age 27. In an open letter, she confides her pain, her grief and recounts the long period of mourning.

For Lisa Marie Presley, it’s a wound that will never heal. On July 12, 2020, she lost her son. At only 27 years old, Benjamin committed suicide after years of depression and the fight against his addictions. Elvis Presley’s grandson shot himself in the head while his girlfriend was in the same house as him. It was she who found the body of the young man in the bathroom. Two years later, the King’s daughter released a moving tribute on National Bereavement Awareness Day. “I’ve been living in the awful reality since my son died two years ago. I thought I’d share a few things to consider when it comes to bereavement for anyone who’s interested. If not for s’ to help oneself but perhaps to help another who is grieving…”begins Lisa Marie Presley.

I fight with myself and I fight tirelessly and chronically against guilt. I blame myself every day and it’s pretty hard to live with now, writes Lisa Marie Presley again. (…) Nothing, absolutely NOTHING takes away the pain, but sometimes finding support can help you feel a little less alone.” Since the suicide of her son, she has found comfort with her loved ones, her family and also support groups. “I now truly cherish the few people who have stayed there with us through this nightmarish process from the start. And I have learned to love and cherish my new friends as well,” confides the daughter of Elvis Presley in this open letter. And to recount his tragic life: “I have dealt with death, grief and loss since I was nine years old”.

Lisa Marie Presley: ‘My life has been completely destroyed’

“The death of my beautiful son? The sweetest, most incredible being I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing, who made me feel so honored every day to be his mother? Who looked so much like his grandfather on so many levels that he actually scared me? What worried me even more about him than I naturally would have? That’s unthinkable.” writes Lisa Marie Presley. To honor Benjamin’s memory, she chose to “Continue” but on a daily basis, it is “a challenge”. The mother is also holding out for her three daughters. “I continue because my son made it very clear to me in his final moments that caring for his little sisters was at the forefront of his mind and his mind. He adored them.concludes Lisa Marie Presley. My life and the lives of my three daughters as we knew it were completely destroyed by his death.”
