Here are the selected African referees

Several African referees are part of the official list unveiled this Tuesday, August 30 as part of the U17 Women’s World Cup. 14 female referees, 28 assistant referees, three reserve referees and 16 video referees will take care of the smooth running of the matches.

The FIFA Referees Committee has released its full list for the U17 Women’s World Cup. Among the 14 women referees, two African. These include Mauritian Rivet Maria and Moroccan Karboubi Bouchra.

At the level of assistant referees, four are from the continent: Jermoumi Fatiha and Hamdi Soukaina, both from Morocco, the Mauritian Victoire Queency and the Egyptian Atef Saïd Yara.

Abebe Lidya Tafesse (Ethiopia) and Viana Letticia (Eswatini) are among the VAR referees for the competition. The Tunisian GANOUATI Dorsaf is for her part among the three reserve referees.

An important test

The full list of referees selected for the Women’s Under-17 World Cup. For the first time, video assistance will be used in a women’s U17 competition. Referees selected to officiate during the competition will also be candidates for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

“In terms of refereeing, this is of course an important step in the preparation of the candidates for the Women’s World Cup 2023”explained Pierluigi Collina, the President of the Referees Committee, on the FIFA website.

The U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in the Indian cities of Bhubaneswar, Goa, and Navi Mumbai from October 11-30.
