Athletics: prestigious success for Ehammer in Lucerne – rts.ch

Simon Ehammer signed the best result in the Swiss camp at the meeting in Lucerne. The Appenzeller won the length contest.

In difficult conditions which were not conducive to performance with a headwind in particular, Ehammer took the lead thanks to a leap measured at 8.00 m during his last test. He was 2 centimeters ahead of Jamaican Tajay Gayle. Olympic and European champion in title, the Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou took 3rd place with 7.94 m. “Beating Tentoglou is a great honour.”admits Ehammer.

Kambundji in the hard

Mujinga Kambundji lined up for the 100 and 200m. On the 100, the Bernese took 6th place in 11”54. “I’m a bit in the hard“, she concedes. In the 200, the European champion from Munich finished 4th in 22”89.”It’s the end of the season. I gave a lot this summer with the Worlds in Eugene and the Europeans in Munich“, rightly underlines the Bernese.

The 100m victory did not go to five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah (11’30) but to Sha’Carri Richardson (11’29). The American had not raced since June, after her resounding failure in the trials.
